Below are some sentiments from volunteers who have traveled with us and clinic participants.

“Estoy muy feliz con la brigada, que todo la gente que asistió está muy contento. Una señora me dijo que ya está muy bien, ya no tiene dolor o nada malo y ahora ella puede trabajar de nuevo. Y muchas gracias porque se siente feliz de tener salud.”

“I am very happy with the medical brigade, every person who attended was very happy. An elderly woman from the community told me she is now very well, she is no longer in pain and can work again. She sends many thanks because she is happy to be in good health.”

–       Douglas Orestes DeVicente Jarquin, Mayor of Namasigüe, Choluteca, Honduras

“I’m so thankful for the opportunity to spend spring break in Honduras with C.A.R.E. It was so inspiring to see how much of an impact our actions were able to make within each community where we held a clinic. The trip reminded me the importance of being selfless and has further motivated me to find more chances to help others who need it most.”

“I noticed that, this year, the small things really resonated with me. It wasn’t necessarily the medicine that we handed out or the teeth we pulled. Rather, the more significant moments for me were moments that I shared with the Honduran people. A simple handshake while taking blood pressures, a slight smile from a nervous mother, a barely audible “Gracias”: those were the things that made me realize that we were really making a difference.”

“…The kids were just incredible. In a matter of minutes, they went from being scared of us, to playing soccer and tag with us while screaming “los gringos vienen!” For me, being able to lift those kids up–even if just for half a day–by playing with them or teaching them how to brush their teeth, is something that I will take with me for a very long time.”

“Helping the people who need it most is a great feeling you get back from them. Seeing for myself what a developing country is like, but how nice and pleasant everybody is gave me the feeling of being full.”

“… I did not expect to receive luxurious or quality accommodations while on this trip, but C.A.R.E. gave us much more. From the hotel treatment to the food, C.A.R.E. treated us extremely well and provided for our every need.

The interaction with the pure Honduran people was one I will never forget, and I would love to return to these people once more.”

“My experience in Honduras was incredible. I learned a lot from C.A.R.E. and the people of Honduras about rural healthcare and culture, and I am so thankful to have had this experience”

“I loved it! It was one of the most amazing and eye-opening experiences I’ve ever had. I learned so much in such a short time in Honduras. Every single moment of it was full of reflection, learning, and a lot of fun working with wonderful people! Thank you, C.A.R.E., for providing us this great experience!”

— Lafayette College Student

“My experience in Honduras completely changed my outlook on what it means to be a global citizen. The hands-on work we did with C.A.R.E. in the clinics in addition to the full immersion we experienced in the Honduran culture educated me about rural healthcare in Honduras as well as reminded me of the commonalities of all people, no matter what geographical differences lie between us. My time with C.A.R.E. in Honduras was life-changing, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat!”

“Stepping outside of the box and opening your mind is what this trip to Honduras is all about. The experience of connecting to hundreds of new people every day and positively impacting their lives is completely unforgettable. Not to mention, it will be one of the most amazing weeks of your life. If you don’t go, you’ll miss a completely unique experience. DO IT!”
